As a Payroll Officer you will be the first point of contact for the day to day administration of the Saga payrolls and a subject matter expert, able to deal with queries raised by colleagues throughout the payroll cycle. You will be expected to deal with all routine and non-routine queries and, where required, escalate as appropriate in order to identify a resolution for the issues raised. You will ideally be CPP qualified, or part level qualified, with demonstratable experience and knowledge in payroll

And in return, you can look forward to all the responsibility and involvement of an integral role, providing you with a rewarding and fast-paced career with an excellent benefits package.

If you are a payroll professional, and a strong team player with excellent communication skills, then we want to hear from you.

Main Responsibilities

  • Managing the administration of a number of specified payrolls – both UK and overseas – ensuring the appropriate payroll action is taken so that all colleagues are paid accurately and on time and that Saga complies with all appropriate statutory legislation.
  • Working as a team to support the Senior Payroll Officers in the delivery of a monthly payroll cycle ensuring that all appropriate authorisations are in place for data to be processed and that all calculations are correct for upload to the payroll system.
  • Managing the calculation and deduction/payment of all statutory payments, and court orders as appropriate during the payroll cycle; deal with queries from colleagues in respect of the calculations and payments/deductions as appropriate.
  • Managing the various colleague inboxes to ensure that queries are dealt with correctly and efficiently.
  •  Dealing with in-person queries and managing the interaction with our colleagues to ensure they understand information given in respect of queries raised.
  • The provision of management information on both a regular and ad hoc basis.
  • Ensuring that all payroll actions taken in the payroll cycle can be evidenced for both internal and external auditors; providing correct and relevant data to auditors on request during the audit cycle.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Must have strong payroll knowledge and experience that can be demonstrated; ideally including reconciliation of payrolls
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels both internally and externally and to act in a professional manner always.
  • Strong time management skills to manage conflicting priorities and demands throughout the month and year.
